Double Dhamaka

Hey this topic is catchy na? Actually I wanted to write two stories which I read few days back in my sister's college journal. Was thinking about the title for a long time and wrote this. Many would have known it already. Mind reading them Again?!

THE DONKEY

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

donkey He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

THE BRICK

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jaguar's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jaguar back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parkeSadBoyd car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?". The young boy was excusatory. "Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do," He pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop...". With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother, "he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. "Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy! push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this.

MORAL:

"Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!" God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less

What you feel? Worth a read?

With Love,

  24. Heard the first one but the second one was new.Actually i was telling something similar to one of my friend recently, it does not make sense running fast all the time. Even if you don't have time for others, but it is still some time better to stop, take a breath, study the situation and do replanning and then run again. We all know to take a jump, you need to take a few steps back.

This situation may not be on the same note as the story went, but felt the learning is applicable in these cases too, so shared..

And you asked in my blog abt my thinking, but my question is how do you get time to post so frequently and that too maintaining the quality in tact ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. haha...shruthi..
i was jus askin a small doubt for fun.. ;)
i dint mean anythin else.. :((

  26. @Mustaf
The life is so weird! How many of us are in touch with our school friends?! Very few! Life has become materialistic.. Nobody dares to care for others! That's the fact!!
    Thanks :)

""how do you get time to post so frequently and that too maintaining the quality in tact ?""
Frequently i post?! May be...my height of boredom. Till my DOJ comes or till i geta better job, am gonna post frequently and make u read a lot!! :P

Quality? Are all my posts good?! I doubt it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Anoop
    :P :P
Afraid of donkey eh?! I was casual while commenting that! Nothin harm :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. See personally i don't like those tagged post and don't comment, i dont remember exactly but i think in 1-2 posts of yours i did not comment, not sure what they were..

And reg the quality, it is obvious all the posts can't be of same quality..but i meant to say ur average quality is very good and that u seem to maintain in all posts of yours, My personal opinion :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. @Mustaf
u Don't like tags eh!?! That's your wish of commenting and not commenting! Seems you are so selective!

""maintain in all posts of yours, My personal opinion""
Yes, perspective differs from person to person! So Always i maintain that limit to avoid difference of opinion!

  41. Touching stories.

I've heard the Donkey story with a twist -- the donkey was deaf and all the while, when people were talking and working toward burying him, he thought they were egging him to not give up . Moral : Watch what you say ..

    Cheers,

    ReplyDelete
  42. Its definitely worth the read pa :)

  43. both are really wonderful stories and have a real nice messages...

I was amazed at the first one... thats how life is treating us na... many times dirt is thrown.. and it's our job to shake it off..

second is also good... living a life in fast manner.. those rules are also good.. :) :)

expect less and give more.. I have read in a book... but most of the times we will do just opposite...

/*"Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!"*/

    nice one Shruti.. :)

  49. I agree to most of the people who have commented here !!
(apart from khe khe khe's .. i still fail to realise what's that) ;)

Brilliant stories, I agree to your 1st 3 rules of life and completely disagree with the last two:

I GIVE less (am just being honest)!

    I Expect a LOT (may be that's the reason, I get hurt mostly, but that's what i am I can't change) !

    ReplyDelete
  50. @Sourav
    Hi buddy :)
    Thank you!
Give more- that doesn't mean only money. It can be interpreted as love, care and affection

Expect Lot - Expect what you deserve the most!
